Revealed: Ashcroft, Tenet, Rumsfeld warned 9/11 Commission about ‘line’ it ’should not cross’

(RawStory) – Senior Bush administration officials sternly cautioned the 9/11 Commission against probing too deeply into the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, according to a document recently obtained by the ACLU.

The notification came in a letter dated January 6, 2004, addressed by Attorney General John Ashcroft, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and CIA Director George J. Tenet. The ACLU described it as a fax sent by David Addington, then-counsel to former vice president Dick Cheney.

Een Italiaans lid van het Europees parlement wil een internationaal tribunaal om onafhankelijk een onderzoek te voeren naar de aanslagen van 11 september 2001. "Die gaat er van uit dat Osama bin Laden vanuit een grot in Afghanistan en in samenwerking met 19 jongelui er in slaagde de meest verraderlijke aanslag uit de geschiedenis van de mensheid uit te voeren. Dat lijkt mij wel heel straf. Maar de belangrijkste tegenspraak is hoe de luchtafweer van de grootste militaire macht op de planeet er niet in slaagde de aanslagen te voorkomen en dat op geen enkel moment gevechtsvliegtuigen zijn opgestegen of raketafweersystemen ontplooid". Exclusive video of emergency official Barry Jennings discussing explosions inside WTC 7 before either of the twin towers had collapsed and having to step over dead bodies of victims as he attempted to vacate the building has been released for the first time.

The clip, which was originally intended to feature in Loose Change Final Cut but had to be withdrawn according to Jennings' wishes after he had received threats, has now been made public in anticipation of a BBC documentary about Building 7 which is expected to skew Jennings' account in an attempt to reinforce the official story.

In reality, what Jennings witnessed completely contradicts the official story of what happened to Building 7.

Verzin een vijand

Een complot van kwaadwillende schurken is het mooiste excuus om een oorlog te beginnen. Zie Bush versus Irak, nu 5 jaar geleden. Hoe Amerika bij conflicten de waarheid een handje helpt.

Nobel, noodzakelijk en gerechtvaardigd. Zo omschreef president Bush onlangs de oorlog in Irak. Maar buiten het Witte Huis geldt de oorlog, die zich nu al vijf jaar voortsleept, als een uitzichtloze, mislukte, en vooral niet-noodzakelijke militaire operatie.

De officiële reden om het land binnen te vallen was dat dictator Saddam Hoessein Al-Qaida zou steunen, en over massavernietigingswapens zou beschikken. Beide beschuldigingen bleken nergens op gebaseerd. Sterker nog; ze werden bewust gefabriceerd om een inval te rechtvaardigen. Al ruim vóór de aanslagen van 11 september 2001 werd een dergelijke inval aanbevolen door conservatieve denktanks, nauw verbonden met het Witte Huis.

Zo dacht ik vier jaar geleden dus ook. Ik vond het nogal verrassend dat bepaalde mensen het hokje "complotter" hebben verzonnen. Voor mij was en is het gewoon een kwestie van logica, net zoals het logica was voor mij om kritisch te zijn op (de redenen voor) de Irak-invasie. Bizar vind ik het nog steeds dat de oppositie in de Kamer tot nu toe niet in actie is gekomen op dit onderwerp.

Uiteindelijk lijkt me dat echter onvermijdelijk. Ik heb altijd al gezegd: een Irak-onderzoek is niet compleet zonder een onderzoek naar de beweegredenen voor de (en de gevolgen van de zogenaamde "war on terror." )

Alles hangt met elkaar samen. Met name de linkse partijen (laten we de PvdA daar ook even toe rekenen) moeten dat niet vergeten, aangezien dat een substantieel onderdeel van hun eigen politieke filosofie is.
