They are also expanding another US base in the southern city of Kandahar.

All the digging and bulldozing in the desert has put a premium on water, especially for the runway construction.

As a result, troops were collecting water from the base's kitchens and showers to compact dirt at building sites, the Navy officer said.

The base is needed quickly with the US military presence in Afghanistan due to double by the autumn, when the Obama administration says up to 68,000 troops will be in place.

The “war on terror” is a hoax that fronts for American control of oil pipelines, the profits of the military-security complex, the assault on civil liberty by fomenters of a police state, and Israel’s territorial expansion.

There were no al Qaeda in Iraq until the Americans brought them there by invading and overthrowing Saddam Hussein, who kept al Qaeda out of Iraq. The Taliban is not a terrorist organization, but a movement attempting to unify Afghanistan under Muslim law. The only Americans threatened by the Taliban are the Americans Bush sent to Afghanistan to kill Taliban and to impose a puppet state on the Afghan people.

Hamas is the democratically elected government of Palestine, or what little remains of Palestine after Israel’s illegal annexations. Hamas is a terrorist organization in the same sense that the Israeli government and the US government are terrorist organizations. In an effort to bring Hamas under Israeli hegemony, Israel employs terror bombing and assassinations against Palestinians. Hamas replies to the Israeli terror with homemade and ineffectual rockets.

Hezbollah represents the Shi’ites of southern Lebanon, another area in the Middle East that Israel seeks for its territorial expansion.

The US brands Hamas and Hezbollah “terrorist organizations” for no other reason than the US is on Israel’s side of the conflict. There is no objective basis for the US Department of State’s “finding” that Hamas and Hezbollah are terrorist organizations. It is merely a propagandistic declaration.

De geheime documenten die RTL Nieuws heeft achterhaald over het kabinetsplan om in 2003 een fregat te laten meewerken aan de inval in Irak, is met verbijstering ontvangen door de regeringspartijen ChristenUnie en PvdA en de oppositiepartijen SP, VVD en D66.

Strijd tegen de waarheid

D66-leider Pechtold is vooral verbaasd over het feit dat premier Balkenende in december vorig jaar nog ontkende dat er plannen waren voor militaire steun. "Het wordt tijd dat Balkenende zijn strijd tegen de waarheid opgeeft", zegt hij.

Onvermijdelijk

Volgens SP-woordvoerder Van Bommel is een onderzoek door het parlement nu onvermijdelijk. "Het kabinet is tekort geschoten met het informeren van het parlement", stelt hij.

Mij lijkt het een poging om alvast preventief de regeringsverantwoordelijkheid en ministeriële verantwoordelijkheid af te schuiven op het ambtelijk apparaat. Punt is dat de toenmalige minister van BuZa inmiddels voor Navo-baas speelt, dat Wouter Bos de harde eis voor een Irak-onderzoek inslikte om te mogen regeren, dat Nederland de oorlog steunde en dat Balkenende nog steeds premier is.

Ik geloof er niets van dat dit "achterhouden" een solo-actie van die ambtenaren was.

Het aantal ziektes en sterfgevallen onder pasgeborenen is gestegen nadat Amerika zogenaamde “speciale wapens” had gebruikt bij de twee massale bombardementen op Fallujah, in 2004. Na aanvankelijke ontkenningen gaf het Pentagon in november 2005 toe dat er witte fosfor was gebruikt, een beperkt toegestane brandbare stof.

Daarbij kwam ook nog de munitie met verarmd uranium. Amerika heeft er in Irak tot nog toe 1200 ton van gebruikt, zegt het Pentagon. Volgens veel dokters is dat de oorzaak van de enorme toename van kankergevallen, zowel onder Irakezen als onder Amerikaanse veteranen van de beide Golfoorlogen.
