The Mega-Lie Called the "War on Terror": A Masterpiece of Propaganda

The fraudulence of the "War on Terror" is clearly revealed by looking at the pattern of actions that preceded and followed its launch.

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the state can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie ... The truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the state." --Joseph Goebbels, minister of propaganda in Nazi Germany, 1933-1945

Since Sept. 11, 2001, the administration of George W. Bush has told and repeated a lie that is "big enough" to confirm Joseph Goebbels' testimony. It is a mega-lie, and the American people have come to believe it. It is the "War on Terror."

The Bush administration endlessly recites its mantra of deceit:

The War on Terror was launched in response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. It is intended to enhance our national security at home and to spread democracy in the Middle East.

This is the struggle of our lifetime; we are defending our way of life from an enemy intent on destroying our freedoms. We must fight the enemy in the Middle East, or we will fight him in our cities.

This is classic propaganda. In Goebbels' terms, it is the "state" speaking its lie, but the political, economic, and military consequences of the Bush administration lie are coming into view, and they are all catastrophic. If truth is the enemy of both the lie and George Bush's "state," then the American people need to know the truth.

Right-Wing New York Sun Declares: ‘Attack On Iran Said To Be Imminent’

The New York Sun, a reliable neoconservative outlet that has advocated for a Dick Cheney presidential campaign, declares today: “Attack on Iran Said To Be Imminent.” The article’s lead states:

In a sign that U.N. Security Council-based diplomacy is losing steam, a number of sources are reporting that a military strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities may be imminent. France and America also are pushing for tighter economic sanctions against Tehran, without U.N. approval.

Yesterday’s edition of Le Canard Enchaîné, a French weekly known for its investigative journalism, reported details of an alleged Israeli-American plan to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities. The frontpage headline read: “A report sent to the Elysée — Putin tells Tehran: They’re going to bomb you!”

US, NATO and Israel Deploy Nukes directed against Iran

"As far as is known, the incident marked the first time that a US plane has taken off armed with nuclear weapons in nearly 40 years. ...

... The transport of weapons from one base to another, however, is normally carried out in the holds of C-17 and C-130 cargo planes, not fixed to the wings of combat bombers.

Someone had to give the order to mount the missiles on the plane. The question is whether it was a local Air Force commander—either by mistake or deliberately—or whether the order came from higher up.

B-52s from Barksdale have been used repeatedly to strike targets in Iraq, firing cruise missiles at Iraqi targets in 1996 and 1998, and in the “shock and awe” campaign that preceded the 2003 invasion, carrying out some 150 bombing runs that devastated much of the southern half of the country.

Moreover, the weapon that was fixed to the wings of the B-52 flying from Minot air base was designed for use against hardened targets, such as underground bunkers.

Given the ratcheting up of the threats against Iran and the previous reports of plans for the use of “tactical” nuclear weapons against Iranian nuclear installations, there is a very real possibility that the flight to Barksdale was part of covert preparations for a nuclear strike against Iran.

If this is indeed the case, the claims about a “mistake” by a munitions officer and a few airmen in North Dakota may well be merely a cover story aimed at concealing the fact that the government in Washington is preparing a criminal act of world historic proportions by ordering—without provocation—the first use of nuclear weapons since the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki more than sixty years ago.

The organisation Helfen ohne Grenzen (Help without Frontiers) is reporting that "Soldiers from the 66th LID (Light Infantry Divison) have turned their weapons against other government troops and possibly police in North Okkalappa township in Rangoon and are defending the protesters. At present unsure how many soldiers involved."

As suspected, Israel’s claim of a raid against a Syrian nuclear facility is a load of hooey. "Israel did not strike a nuclear weapons facility in Syria on Sept. 6, instead striking a cache of North Korean missiles, current and former intelligence officials say," writes Larisa Alexandrovna for Raw Story. "American intelligence sources familiar with key events leading up to the Israeli air raid tell Raw Story that what the Syrians actually had were North Korean No-Dong missiles, possibly located at a site in either the city of Musalmiya in the northern part of Syria or further south around the city of Hama." Of course, considering "American intelligence sources" are notorious liars, turning weather balloon trailers into chemical weapons labs, this admission is suspect as well. For all we know, Israel bombed a mule team, if that.

"Lost" B-52 nuke cruise missiles were on way to Middle East for attack on Iran

Labor Day weekend incident was a revolt by US Air Force and other US intelligence agencies against Bush-Cheney plans for pre-emptive nuclear and conventional strike on Iran.

WMR has learned from U.S. and foreign intelligence sources that the B-52 transporting six stealth AGM-129 Advanced Cruise Missiles, each armed with a W-80-1 nuclear warhead, on August 30, were destined for the Middle East via Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana.

However, elements of the Air Force, supported by U.S. intelligence agency personnel, successfully revealed the ultimate destination of the nuclear weapons and the mission was aborted due to internal opposition within the Air Force and U.S. Intelligence Community.

Yesterday, the Washington Post attempted to explain away the fact that America's nuclear command and control system broke down in an unprecedented manner by reporting that it was the result of "security failures at multiple levels." It is now apparent that the command and control breakdown, reported as a BENT SPEAR incident to the Secretary of Defense and White House, was not the result of a command and control chain-of-command "failures" but the result of a revolt and push back by various echelons within the Air Force and intelligence agencies against a planned U.S. attack on Iran using nuclear and conventional
weapons.

The Washington Post story on BENT SPEAR may have actually been an effort in damage control by the Bush administration. WMR has been informed by a knowledgeable source that one of the six nuclear-armed cruise missiles was, and may still be, unaccounted for. In that case, the nuclear reporting incident would have gone far beyond BENT SPEAR to a National Command Authority alert known as EMPTY QUIVER, with the special classification of PINNACLE.

Report: Cheney may have mulled pushing Israel to hit Iran

Newsweek Magazine reported Sunday that Vice President Richard Cheney may have considered a plan for Israeli missile strikes against an Iranian nuclear site in an effort to draw a military response from Iran, which could in turn spark a U.S. offensive against targets in the Islamic Republic.

Citing two unnamed sources the magazine called knowledgeable, the magazine quoted David Wurmser, until last month Cheney's Middle East advisor, as having told a small group of people that "Cheney had been mulling the idea of pushing for limited Israeli missile strikes against the Iranian nuclear site at Natanz - and perhaps other sites - in order to provoke Tehran into lashing out."

According to the report, "The Iranian reaction would then give Washington a pretext to launch strikes against military and nuclear targets in Iran."

De Europese Raad heeft op 21 en 22 juni in Brussel een mandaat uitgewerkt voor de intergouvernementele conferentie, die een "hervormingsverdrag" op punt moet stellen om de ter ziele gegane "grondwet" te vervangen. De belangrijkste zorg van de Europese leiders blijkt daarbij te zijn nieuwe referenda te vermijden.

De intergouvernementele conferentie nam op 23 juli een vliegende start(1). De tijd is krap. De tekst van het "hervormingsverdrag" moet klaar zijn voor de Europese Raad in Lissabon op 18 en 19 oktober. De plechtige ondertekening door de staatshoofden en regeringsleiders is voorzien op de Europese Raad van december 2007. Daarna blijft er anderhalf jaar voor de moeilijke klus van de ratificatie door de lidstaten, die men geklaard wil hebben vóór de Europese verkiezingen anderhalf jaar later, in juni 2009(2). Door het krappe tijdschema wil men een debat ten gronde zoveel mogelijk uit de weg gaan.

De Europese leiders zijn er vooral op uit nieuwe referenda te vermijden(3). Zij weten dat zij risico’s lopen indien zij de mening van de bevolking vragen. Het gekonkelfoes komt hun legitimiteit niet ten goede, maar dat nemen zij er voorlopig bij. Nu eerst en vooral de EU terug op de sporen zetten. Gemakkelijk zal het echter niet zijn: het volstaat dat in één land toegegeven wordt aan de druk een referendum te organiseren, en het hek is van de dam. In heel wat landen is de druk voor nieuwe referenda reëel.

In Nederland, waar het parlement ook zonder akkoord van de regering de beslissing kan nemen tot een referendum, heeft een meerderheid van de gekozenen zich in de verkiezingscampagne daartoe verbonden. In Frankrijk kan president Nicolas Sarkozy een referendum enkel vermijden door de noodzakelijke wijziging van de Franse grondwet te laten goedkeuren door een drie vijfde meerderheid van het ‘Congres’ (de verenigde Kamer en Senaat). Daartoe heeft hij de steun van de socialisten nodig. In Groot-Brittannië staat de Britse premier Gordon Brown onder druk, niet enkel van de Conservatieven, maar ook van enkele grote vakbonden die een referendum willen omdat ze ontevreden zijn met de opt out uit het Handvest van de grondrechten. De Britse vakbonden congresseren op 10 september, en twee weken later congresseert Labour. Volgens een poll zou Brown tot een vierde van zijn Labour-kiezers kwijtspelen indien hij geen referendum organiseert.

Een ander heet hangijzer is de vraag of ons land zijn militaire missie in Afghanistan na de afgesproken twee jaar moet verlengen. De vorige minister van Defensie, destijds verantwoordelijk voor de uitzending, heeft onlangs nog eens duidelijk gemaakt dat ons land twee jaar zou blijven en niet langer. De NAVO heeft dat aanvaard en de verantwoordelijkheid op zich genomen voor aflossing te zorgen. Nu het ernaar uitziet dat die aflossing niet wordt gevonden, wordt er op ons land druk uitgeoefend om langer te blijven.

Mijn partij was als enige fractie destijds tegen de oorlog. Wij hadden daar toen goede redenen voor, net als inzake de oorlog tegen Irak. Wij geloven niet dat je een Derde Wereldland, dat economisch en maatschappelijk nog het meest lijkt op hoe wij er hier honderden jaren geleden voor stonden, door middel van bombardementen in een paar jaar onze visie op democratie en mensenrechten kunt opleggen. Er bestaat een rare soort maakbaarheidsparadox. Partijen en politici die als het over binnenlandse, politieke vraagstukken gaat, de maakbaarheid van de samenleving bestrijden, denken dat we ver weg in het buitenland ingewikkelde en historisch beladen situaties wèl naar onze hand kunnen zetten. Moraliteit, het besef van goed en kwaad, móet in de politiek, het is zelfs essentieel; maar dat geldt ook voor realiteitsbesef. Effectieve politiek rust op beide. Moralpolitik moet door de zeef van de Realpoltik, doen we dat niet dan kunnen we wel eens het tegendeel bewerkstellingen van wat we beogen.

Ondanks de inzet van onze militairen, die hun uiterste best doen om er iets van te maken, denkt mijn fractie dat de Uruzgan-missie weinig kans van slagen heeft. Dat vonden wij, en dat vinden we nu nog sterker dan toen de Kamer besloot er troepen naar toe te sturen. Kort en goed: mijn fractie zal tegen verlenging van de missie stemmen. De oud-directeur-generaal bij de Europese Gemeenschap, de heer Wellenstein schreef in een opinie-artikel in de NRC: ‘De grenzeloze en ideeënloze war on terror is geen substituut voor een strategie, en heeft de VS al jammerlijk aan gezag doen inboeten. Zonder een echte gezamenlijke aanpak mag op Nederland geen wissel getrokken worden.’

Het geld en de inzet die daarmee bespaard worden zouden wij graag inzetten voor hulp aan Afghanistan op plekken waar we ons kunnen inzetten voor de ontwikkeling van het land en zijn bevolking.

Dan Europa. Terwijl het gevecht tussen de federalisten en de realisten nog steeds voortwoedt, wil ik graag van de minister-president weten wat het kabinet vindt van een nieuw referendum over de voorliggende, nieuwe plannen voor Europa. Mij lijkt dat wanneer je besloten hebt de bevolking het laatste woord te geven, je, wanneer de uitkomst je niet bevalt, niet kunt besluiten om dat toch maar weer niet te doen. Naar aanleiding van de aanpassingen in de Grondwet, die tot stand zijn gekomen dankzij het twee-derde deel van de bevolking dat in 2005 ‘nee’ zei, schijnt het ‘ja’-kamp aan vastberadenheid gewonnen te hebben. Dus, wat let u. Laten we snel een referendum organiseren. Dat is goed voor het democratisch gehalte van het besluit, en het is goed voor de kennis van de mensen over de Europa en de Europese Unie.

Mystery 9/11 aircraft was military 'doomsday plane"

CNN has now learned from two government sources that the mystery plane was a military aircraft and has determined that the blurry image on video appears to match photos of the Air Force's E-4B (discussed here on Wikipedia), a specially modified Boeing 747 with a communications pod behind the cockpit.

"The E-4B is a state of the art flying command post," CNN explained, "built and equipped for one reason -- to keep the government running no matter what, even in the event of a nuclear war, the reason it was nicknamed the 'doomsday plane' during the Cold War."

Krongard’s last position at Banker’s Trust (BT) was to oversee “private client relations.” In this capacity he had direct hands-on relations with some of the wealthiest people in the world in a kind of specialized banking operation that has been identified by the U.S. Senate and other investigators as being closely connected to the laundering of drug money.

The chair and vice chair of the 9/11 Commission, respectively Thomas Kean and Lee Hamilton, assert in their book, Without Precedent, that they were "set up to fail" and were starved of funds to do a proper investigation. They also confirm that they were denied access to the truth and misled by senior officials in the Pentagon and the federal aviation authority;
and that this obstruction and deception led them to contemplate slapping officials with criminal charges.

Raad van Europa bezorgd over Amerikaans rakettenschild

Op voorstel van SP-senator Kox houdt de parlementaire assemblee van de Raad van Europa op 4 oktober een spoeddebat over de politieke gevolgen van het plan van president Bush een ‘raketschild’ in Oost-Europa te plaatsen tegen ‘schurkenstaten’ als Iran en Noord-Korea.

In reactie op de plannen van de Amerikaanse president Bush heeft de Russsische president Poetin gedreigd nieuwe raketten in de Russische enclave Kaliningrad te plaatsen. Ook dreigen internationale wapenverdragen opgezegd te worden.

Met dat statement wil een groep ex-moslims van Iraanse, Marokkaanse en Turkse afkomst zich uitspreken tegen het comité van ex-moslims dat dinsdag door Ehsan Jami wordt opgericht.

In de moskee El Ouma in het Amsterdamse stadsdeel Slotervaart kwam de groep maandagochtend bijeen. De ex-moslims willen 'alleen een statement maken'. Ze richten nadrukkelijk geen comité op en verwijten Jami geloofsafval onnodig tot politiek discussiepunt te bombarderen. De groep zegt verbaasd te zijn dat twee mensen, daarbij doelend op Jami en publicist Afshin Ellian, blijkbaar de stem van ex-moslims hebben weten te mobiliseren.

De 30-jarige Iraniër Behnam Taebi en zijn medestanders willen 'de stem van de zwijgende meerderheid' laten horen. Ze willen op een beschaafde manier oproepen tot solidariteit, respect en tolerantie. De werkwijze van Jami zou contraproductief zijn. "Met polarisatie komen we nergens. Daar spint alleen Geert Wilders garen bij", zei Taebi. "Mag het allemaal wat beschaafder?"

Osama Bin Laden zou zijn baard zwart hebben geverfd. "Het verven van de baard is strikt verboden volgens de Islamitische wet. Elke godsvruchtige (Sunni) Moslim zou bij het beeld van een zegsman met geverfde baard ontzet zijn.

Het is toegestaan om het met henna (en alléén daarmee) te kleuren, maar in dat geval lijkt het grijze haar oranje.

Pakistan is vergeven van kerels met flinke oranjegetinte baarden, maar er is geen enkele markt voor de Grecian-formule (haarverf) , in ieder geval niet onder Wahhabi-moslims." Bron: Michael Rivero

Minister Hirsch Ballin van Justitie roept politie, veiligheidsdiensten en burgers op extra te letten op verdachte situaties.

Dreiging in Duitsland
Aanleiding hiervoor is de recente terreurdreiging in Duitsland en Denemarken. Volgens de minister zijn er geen concrete aanwijzingen voor een mogelijke terroristische aanslag in Nederland, maar 'er is wel reden voor ons om extra alert te zijn'.

Nieuwe grondwet even liberaal als de vorige

Over de nieuwe Europese Grondwet -die van de voorstanders geen grondwet meer mag heten- wordt vaak beweerd dat deze minder op marktwerking en vrije concurrentie gericht zou zijn als de vorige. Dit omdat het begrip “vrije concurrentie” uit de grondwet is gehaald en publieke diensten beter beschermd zouden worden.

Onze Deense collega Søren Søndergaard besloot de Europese Commissie eens te vragen wat dit nu feitelijk voor gevolgen zou hebben voor het interne marktbeleid van de EU. Het antwoord: helemaal niets.

Helft Amerikanen wil parlementair onderzoek voor aanslagen 9/11

Iets meer dan de helft van de Amerikanen (51 procent) wil een parlementair onderzoek naar de daden van president George W.Bush en zijn vice-president Dick Cheney tijdens en na de aanslagen van 11 september 2001. Dat blijkt uit een enquête die vandaag werd gepubliceerd in de VS.

Bij het naderen van de zesde verjaardag van de terroristische aanslagen in New York en Washington vindt een derde van de ondervraagden dat er in de Kamer van Volksafgevaardigden een afzettingsprocedure moet worden opgestart tegen Bush en Cheney.

Ex-moslims keren zich tegen Ehsan Jami

Een groep van ex-moslims heeft zich verenigd om stelling te nemen tegen Ehsan Jami's comité van ex-moslims. De leden vinden dat Jami het recht om afstand te nemen van een godsdienst gebruikt als dekmantel om moslims te beledigen en te stigmatiseren. De groep houdt maandag in de moskee El Oumma in Amsterdam-Slotervaart een persconferentie om haar standpunt toe te lichten.

De betrokken ex-moslims komen oorspronkelijk uit Iran, Marokko en Turkije. "Het is belangrijk om een tegengeluid te laten horen tegen Ehsan Jami en Afshin Ellian", verklaart de uit Iran afkomstige Behnam Taebi. Volgens de 30-jarige beledigen Jami en Ellian moslims 'categorisch'. Ook zouden ze moslims stigmatiseren door ze als 'gewelddadig' en 'terroristisch' af te schilderen.

Israël hoofdverantwoordelijk voor burgerslachtoffers Libanon

Volgens een rapport van mensenrechtenorganisatie Human Rights Watch is Israël, niet Hezbollah, hoofdverantwoordelijk voor de burgerslachtoffers in Libanon, tijdens de zomeroorlog in 2006. HRW deed onderzoek naar de omstandigheden rond de dood van 510 burgers en 51 Hezbollah-stijders.

Ook de claims over het gebruik van "menselijke schilden" door Hezbollah worden naar het rijk der fabelen verwezen.

The Israelis broke the sound barrier and ''dropped ammunition'' over deserted areas of northern Syria overnight, the spokesman was quoted as saying by the official Syrian Arab News Agency.

The Syrians did not say the aircraft struck targets, and it was not clear what the spokesman meant by dropping ammunition. Warplanes sometimes drop extra fuel tanks to make the aircraft lighter and easier to maneuver.

''We warn the Israeli enemy government against this flagrant aggressive act, and retain the right to respond in an appropriate way,'' the Syrian spokesman said, speaking on customary condition of anonymity.

'VS kan naar seksuele voorkeur reizigers vragen'

AMSTERDAM - Het kabinet heeft verzwegen dat de Verenigde Staten ook gegevens over de seksuele geaardheid van reizigers kunnen opeisen. Dat stelt SP-Kamerlid Jan de Wit deze week in de Gay Krant. De Amerikanen zouden zelf mogen bepalen of de informatie wel of niet relevant is om op te vragen.

Tussen de VS en de Europese Unie is per 31 juli een uitwisselingsverdrag van passagiersgegevens ingegaan. In uitzonderlijke gevallen krijgen de Amerikanen ook de beschikking over gegevens als politieke voorkeur, etnische afkomst en godsdienst. Dat daar ook seksuele geaardheid onder valt, heeft de regering volgens De Wit verzuimd te melden in een brief aan de Tweede Kamer.

Kernbommen boven de VS: false flag voorkomen?

Het lijkt een administratieve vergissing van een paar luchtmachtmedewerkers: een B-52 die per ongeluk drie uur lang met 6 kernbommen boven de VS vliegt.

Maar geplaatst in de context van de oplopende oorlogsretoriek tegen Iran, naar verluidt aan diverse neocon denktanks en media verordonneerd door "vice"-president Dick Cheney, krijgt zo'n nieuwsbericht, voor de goede verstaander, ineens een grimmige en huiveringwekkende lading.

Progressieve ex-moslim wijst comité af

Ehsan Jami spreekt niet namens alle ex-moslims, betogen Peyman Jafari en Behnam Taebi. Jami brengt de islam met terrorisme in verband en voedt de hetze tegen moslims. Progressieven moeten zich van zijn comité distantiëren.

In de afgelopen weken hebben tientallen bekende Nederlanders een brief gekregen met de oproep zich aan te sluiten bij het Steuncomité ex-moslims. De brief is ondertekend door bekende islam-bashers zoals Afshin Ellian, maar ook door progressieven zoals hoogleraren Jos de Beus en Arjo Klamer. Bewust van hun islamofobe gezelschap, beweren ze met de steun aan Jami’s Comité van ex-moslims slechts op te komen voor het recht op geloofsafval. Dit is een ongelooflijk naïeve bewering, die in de praktijk het neoconservatieve wereldbeeld versterkt waarin moslims de ‘westerse beschaving’ zouden bedreigen. In de publieke opinie zal immers nauwelijks een onderscheid gemaakt worden tussen dat wereldbeeld en dat van Jami’s comité.

Chemical 'WMD' found at U.N. may be little more than cleaner

Fooled again.

Chemicals discovered in the United Nations' Manhattan offices - feared to be a toxic agent produced by Saddam Hussein's regime a decade ago - may be nothing worse than a cleaning solvent, sources said yesterday.

Preliminary tests show the substance, which was found Aug. 24, was not the potentially fatal phosgene, sources said.

"It's not phosgene, and it tested negative for all other chemical warfare agents. It's not dangerous, and it's not what they thought they had," a law enforcement source said.

UN officials discovered the chemical in a canister sealed in an unmarked plastic bag as they closed a weapons inspection agency on E. 48th St., a block from UN headquarters.

By Aug. 29, UN officials said they traced the material using inventory sheets. They believed it was a chemical warfare agent seized by UN inspectors in 1996 from Iraq's chemical weapons facility near Samarra.

Wanneer werd Balkenende geïnformeerd over de Downingstreet memo's?

Twee mogelijkheden:
1. Balkenende had deze informatie niet. Dit zou zware consequenties moeten hebben voor de diplomatieke verhoudingen tussen Nederland, UK en VS. Zij hebben ons als bondgenoot dan namelijk bewust kritieke inlichtingen onthouden en ons zo betrokken in een illegale aanvalsoorlog.

2.Balkenende kende de inhoud van de memo's. In dat geval is hij ook oorlogsmisdadiger en medeverantwoordelijk voor de honderdduizenden dode burgers in Irak.

"EU moet meer optreden tegen terreur"

wo 05/09/07 - EU-commissaris voor Justitie Franco Frattini wil dat Europa meer veiligheidsmaatregelen treft tegen het terrorisme. Hij noemt de Amerikaanse maatregelen een voorbeeld.

"Volgens alle bronnen blijft het risico groot op een aanslag in een van de Europese lidstaten", zei Frattini. Hij noemde onder meer Spanje, Italië, België, Groot-Brittannië en Duitsland als mogelijke doelwitten. [...]

De plannen van Frattini krijgen al een tijdje kritiek omdat sommige politici vinden dat de privacy van de burgers geschonden dreigt te worden.

During his teenage years, Anatole witnessed the rise of the Nazis and left Berlin forever after Kristalnacht in 1938.

Cheney Orders Media To Sell Attack On Iran

Dick Cheney has ordered top Neo-Con media outlets, including Fox News and the Wall Street Journal, to unleash a PR blitz to sell a war with Iran from today, according to Barnett Rubin, the highly respected Afghanistan expert at New York University.

The New Yorker magazine reports that Rubin had a conversation with a member of a top neoconservative institution in Washington, who told him that "instructions" had been passed on from the Office of the Vice-President to roll out a campaign for war with Iran in the week after Labor Day.

"It will be coordinated with the American Enterprise Institute, the Wall Street Journal, the Weekly Standard, Commentary, Fox, and the usual suspects, writes Rubin, "It will be heavy sustained assault on the airwaves, designed to knock public sentiment into a position from which a war can be maintained. Evidently they don’t think they’ll ever get majority support for this—they want something like 35-40 percent support, which in their book is “plenty.”
