De financiële 9/11 van 2008

Financial Attack On 9-11-2008 Triggered The Economic Crisis!?!

On the anniversary of 9/11 there was an electronic run on the banks to the tune of $550 Billion dollars with in two hours before it was shut down.

I started researching the free market's dependence on the power of shock four years ago, during the early days of the occupation of Iraq. I reported from Baghdad on Washington's failed attempts to follow "shock and awe" with shock therapy - mass privatisation, complete free trade, a 15% flat tax, a dramatically downsized government. Afterwards I travelled to Sri Lanka, several months after the devastating 2004 tsunami, and witnessed another version of the same manoeuvre: foreign investors and international lenders had teamed up to use the atmosphere of panic to hand the entire beautiful coastline over to entrepreneurs who quickly built large resorts, blocking hundreds of thousands of fishing people from rebuilding their villages. By the time Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, it was clear that this was now the preferred method of advancing corporate goals: using moments of collective trauma to engage in radical social and economic engineering. Most people who survive a disaster want the opposite of a clean slate: they want to salvage whatever they can and begin repairing what was not destroyed. "When I rebuild the city I feel like I'm rebuilding myself," said Cassandra Andrews, a resident of New Orleans' heavily damaged Lower Ninth Ward, as she cleared away debris after the storm. But disaster capitalists have no interest in repairing what once was. In Iraq, Sri Lanka and New Orleans, the process deceptively called "reconstruction" began with finishing the job of the original disaster by erasing what was left of the public sphere.

Sri Lankan Military Intensifies Offensive Against Tamil Tigers; 13 Die in Hospital Shelling

The Sri Lankan government offensive against the separatist Tamil Tiger rebels is continuing amidst growing concern for the fate of over 250,000 civilians trapped in the fighting. The Sri Lankan president declared Monday that the army was on the verge of crushing the rebels after a twenty-five-year war. The army’s attack has reduced the territory under rebel control from 7,000 square miles a year ago to just over 100 square miles today. [includes rush transcript]

250,000 Civilians Trapped in Sri Lanka Fighting

As with Gaza, there's also more than enough blame to go around in Sri Lanka, where as many as 250,000 civilians remain trapped in the fighting between the Sri Lankan military and rebel Tamil Tigers.

The UN reports that a hospital bombed last week is now deserted, while the World Food Program is still struggling to supply food to hundreds of thousands of civilians who've fled their homes.

IMF verlaagt groeiverwachting wereldeconomie opnieuw

Socialism Seems to be Working in Venezuela

In Venezuela the corporate media are still owned by the elites. The five major TV networks, and nine of the ten major newspapers maintain a continuing media effort to undermine Chavez. But despite the corporate media and continuing US taxpayer financial support to anti-Chavez opposition institutions from USAID and National Endowment for Democracy ($20 million annually), two-thirds of the people in Venezuela continue to support him and the United Socialist Party. The democracies of South America are realizing that the neo-liberal formulas for capitalism are not working for the people and that new forms of resource allocation are necessary for human betterment. It is a learning process for all involved and certainly a democratic effort from the bottom up.

The Afghan Scam

Most Afghans now believe that the US political campaign was nothing but a cover story for the Bush administration's real goal - to set up permanent bases in Afghanistan and occupy the country forever, notes Ann Jones.

The Shock Doctrine

Martial Law, the Financial Bailout, and War

Prof. Peter Dale Scott op Global Research:

Paulson’s Financial Bailout

It is becoming clear that the bailout measures of late 2008 may have consequences at least as grave for an open society as the response to 9/11 in 2001. Many members of Congress felt coerced into voting against their inclinations, and the normal procedures for orderly consideration of a bill were dispensed with.

The excuse for bypassing normal legislative procedures was the existence of an emergency. But one of the most reprehensible features of the legislation, that it allowed Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson to permit bailed-out institutions to use public money for exorbitant salaries and bonuses, was inserted by Paulson after the immediate crisis had passed.

The Shadow Money Lenders: The Real Significance of The Fed’s Zero-Interest-Rate Policy (ZIRP)

Matthias Chang op Global Research:

Global Central Banks Acting In Concert-
Disinformation In Financial Dailies To Confuse The People
When The Truth Dawns On Hapless People, There Will Be Blood On The Streets.
This Is The Warning By IMF!

INTRODUCTION

The disinformation by the global financial dailies in the last twelve months as to the cause of the global financial tsunami, serve the same purpose as the global mass media when they perpetuated the lies that lulled the people to support the war criminals Bush, Blair and Howard to launch the barbaric war against Iraq and Afghanistan which resulted in the genocide of millions, the mutilation of hundreds of thousands, physically and psychologically, and the devastation of an entire nation.

The wars unleashed thus far, specifically the “War on Terror” were launched to preserve the shadow money-lenders’ political and military power.
