CIA propaganda over Honduras en Venezuela

The details surrounding the recent Honduras coup are filled with lies and disinformation perpetrated mostly by the Regan era Chief Liar, Otto Reich and his Otto Reich Associates, LLC, of Washington, DC, a consulting firm which provides the material for the media to form the perceptions of the American people.

Those same perceptions regarding Venezuela and their democratically elected president Hugo Chavez are manipulated to fit US government and Capitalist desires to allow for support for the overthrow of the Venezuelan anti-Capitalist government. Keep your eye on the news and don't believe much of what you read about Venezuela. The country and it's leader have made remarkable strides in human rights and the protection of the poor that even the US hasn't made, nor does it care to.

“De enorme olierijkdommen in Venezuela hebben de voorbije 80 jaar voor een enorme kloof tussen rijk en arm gezorgd, maar Chávez heeft de spelregels volledig omgekeerd. Hij heeft de opbrengsten van de olie gerecupereerd. Het openbare bedrijf dat de Venezolaanse olierijkdommen beheert, heeft de multinationals de rekening gepresenteerd. Dat verklaart allicht de hevige tegenstand die hij van de VS krijgt.

Olie bevindt zich per definitie onder VS-bodem.” Of zoals die kleine Irakees aan zijn grootvader vroeg: “Opa, hoe komt hún olie onder onze grond terecht?” In die logica stapt Chávez niet mee.”

Welke bedreigingen van de VS rusten op Venezuela?

“Er zijn er drie. Ten eerste geeft de CIA honderden miljoenen dollars uit aan de financiering van oppositiegroeperingen en desinformatie in onze media. Ten tweede is er de bouw van zeven nieuwe militaire VS-basissen op Colombiaans grondgebied. 'Toevallig' naast natuurlijke rijkdommen en 'toevallig' worden daarmee de rebellerende landen Venezuela, Bolivia en Ecuador omsingeld. Maar ook mogelijk Brazilië. Ten slotte hebben de VS ook de vierde vloot gereactiveerd. Die werd tijdens WOII gebruikt tegen de Duitse vloot, en werd daarna afgeschaft, omdat de VS dachten dat ze Latijns-Amerika onder hun controle hadden. Ze hebben die gereactiveerd en een admiraal aan het hoofd geplaatst die carrière heeft gemaakt bij de “Special Forces”.

Chavez ontsnapt aan aanslag door CIA

The Venezuelan president said on state television that he had eluded an assassination attempt in El Salvador where he was due to attend the swearing in of its new leader, a Left-wing ally.

"I am not accusing Obama. I think the American president has good intentions," Mr Chavez said. "But over and above Obama, there is the CIA, and all of its tentacles. I have no doubt US intelligence services are behind this."

The plot was revealed by Mr Chavez's friend and ally, the Sandinista revolutionary President Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua.

El Salvador's security minister, Manuel Melgar, said that were "strange movements" and that the visit of the Venezuelan president could not be given "full security".

According to Mr Chavez, the Cuban plane that he and President Evo Morales of Bolivia were to travel on was going to be shot down by a rocket as it approached San Salvador airport.

Behind the plot, according to the Mr Chavez, was former CIA operative, Luis Posada Carriles, who is currently under house arrest in Florida, but wanted in Venezuela for the downing of a Cuban airliner in 1976 in which 74 people were killed.

After a long flight to Venezuela, I was ready to be part of one of the major decisions in our modern times: The possibility of consolidating a long term revolution by peaceful and democratic means. I was awoken at 4am on Sunday 15th February by strong fireworks and trumpet sounds. Walking during a dark morning in Caracas and waiting for the opening of the underground service is not always a pleasant experience, but in this case it was well worth it. I arrived at the voting centre at around 6am, and an extended queue of around 500 people were already there, waiting for the referendum to officially begin.

Latijns-Amerika en de uitdaging van de crisis

BELEM -- Dit pijnlijk onderwerp bracht vijf linkse presidenten bij elkaar voor een ontmoeting met het publiek van het Wereld Sociaal Forum. Latijns-Amerika zal delen in de klappen, maar de presidenten zien het liever als een gelegenheid om een regionale koers te varen en voorgoed los te komen van de kwetsbare afhankelijkheidsrelatie met het Noorden.

De presidenten ontmoeten elkaar steeds meer en wenden de crisis aan om de integratie binnen de regio te vergroten. “We hebben onze verschillen,” zegt Lula, “maar we kunnen tenminste samen zitten rond de tafel om te praten.”

Socialism Seems to be Working in Venezuela

In Venezuela the corporate media are still owned by the elites. The five major TV networks, and nine of the ten major newspapers maintain a continuing media effort to undermine Chavez. But despite the corporate media and continuing US taxpayer financial support to anti-Chavez opposition institutions from USAID and National Endowment for Democracy ($20 million annually), two-thirds of the people in Venezuela continue to support him and the United Socialist Party. The democracies of South America are realizing that the neo-liberal formulas for capitalism are not working for the people and that new forms of resource allocation are necessary for human betterment. It is a learning process for all involved and certainly a democratic effort from the bottom up.

So no actual emails. And consequently, no proof that any of the alleged authors of these word documents sent or received anything.

So how did the Guardian’s Caracas correspondent end up reporting on something which according to the official investigator had not yet been found? What is the explanation for Rory Carroll’s ‘WMD moment’? We don’t know. We will probably never know. The Guardian, which rushed to report the existence of the emails, has, in common with the rest of the British and US media, chosen not to report their non-existence.

From Bolivia to Venezuela and Honduras to Argentina, Latin American governments are standing firm against the interference by the American administration, which has done everything possible to stoke the flames of insurrection and secession in energy-rich areas of Bolivia, Venezuela, and Ecuador.

Bolivia’s President Evo Morales, who faces CIA and U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA)-sponsored right-wing rebellions in the energy-rich provinces of Santa Cruz, Pando, Tarija, and Beni, expelled U.S. Ambassador Philip Goldberg for interfering in Bolivia’s domestic affairs and supporting the right-wing rebels.

The State Department’s spokesman Sean McCormack, whose snottiness is unprecedented for a spokesperson for America’s seat of foreign diplomacy, responded by expelling Bolivia’s ambassador. McCormack had earlier joked that Russia could send warships to Venezuela if it could find any that could make it that far.

In a side quarrel, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reportedly upbraided British neocon and pro-Israeli Foreign Secretary David Miliband by stating “who are you to fucking lecture me?”

Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez, in solidarity with Morales and reacting to yet another CIA-planned coup against him, after an April 2002 coup organized by then-U.S. Ambassador Charles Shapiro failed, ordered U.S. Ambassador Patrick Duddy to leave Venezuela. The State Department responded by expelling Venezuela’s ambassador in Washington.

While domestic psyops have continued, notably in the 2005 deployment of "Gypsy" (JPOSE, Joint Psychological Operations Support Element) teams to Venezuela with the objective of spreading propaganda among the Venezuelan military and keeping tabs on radical Chavista organizations (117), much of their focus has been the spreading of news stories in the international arena. These stories, as Golinger astutely documents, tend to follow "three major lines of attack":

1.) Chávez is an anti-democratic dictator
2.) Chávez is a destabilizing force in the region
3.) Chávez harbors and supports terrorism (125).

Even the briefest of glances at any mainstream newspaper in the United States, or many other countries for that matter, will show to what degree this mediatically-constructed image has been a success.

This past weekend, Colombia invaded Ecuador, killed a guerrilla chief in the jungle, opened his laptop – and what did the Colombians find? A message to Hugo Chavez that he’s sent the FARC guerrillas $300 million – which they’re using to obtain uranium to make a dirty bomb!

That’s what George Bush tells us. And he got that from his buddy, the strange right-wing President of Colombia, Alvaro Uribe.

So: After the fact, Colombia justifies its attempt to provoke a border war as a to stop the threat of WMDs! Uh, where have we heard that before?
