Kucinich seeks to bar US oil firms from Iraq

Rep. Dennis Kucinich has introduced a measure that would bar US oil companies from receiving contracts in Iraq.

The Ohio Democrat, who believes exploiting Iraq’s massive oil reserves was the primary reason we invaded, introduced a measure he says aims to keep Iraq’s oil wealth within the country.

“Iraq needs oil revenue now more than ever as they try to rebuild their country,” Kucinich said Thursday, unveiling the Oil for Iraq Liberation Act. Bron

On the Hill some call it being McKinney'd--the treatment Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney received when she was in Congress. Twice, rather than protecting the incumbent, the Democrats put up well funded challengers against her. Now, it looks like Dennis Kucinich may be facing the same treatment in Cleveland.

There is a report circulating the web that before the Nevada primary Kucinich was visited by representatives of Nancy Pelosi and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the right wing Israeli lobby. They told him that if he would drop his campaigns to impeach Cheney and Bush, they would guarantee his re-election to the House of Representatives. Kucinich threw them out of his office.

Kucinich has aggressively challenged the Democratic Party leadership in Congress and on the presidential campaign trail on the issues of war, civil liberties, impeachment and big business control of government. He's even refused to pledge to endorse the party's presidential nominee.

Candidates Push for a N.H. Recount

On Friday, Albert Howard, an obscure candidate from Ann Arbor, Mich., who appeared on the Republican ballot and received 44 votes in the primary, hand-delivered his recount request and a down payment of $2,000 to the statehouse in Concord, N.H.

And Dennis Kucinich, an Ohio Congressman and presidential candidate, sent a letter to the New Hampshire Secretary of State asking for a recount of the Democratic ballots. Mr. Kucinich’s letter cited “unexplained disparities between hand-counted ballots and machine-counted ballots.”

Both Mr. Kucinich and Mr. Howard, whose Web site lists making “computerized voting illegal in all 50 states” as a top campaign issue, will have to come up with the money to pay for the recount. But they are allowed to back out when the recount process begins. Source

Dennis Kucinich wil Ron Paul als running mate

Een van de weinige echte peace-candidates van de Amerikaanse Democratische partij, Dennis Kucinich, stelt in bovenstaand interview dat hij best samen met de Republikein Ron Paul campagne zou willen voeren. Hoewel beide kandidaten qua binnenlands (sociaal) beleid hemelsbreed van elkaar verschillen, denkt Kucinich dat er met Paul wel degelijk zaken kunnen worden gedaan. I like the fact that Kucinich has seen a UFO. It's one more bit of evidence that he's a man who has the courage to explore the edges of what it is to be human. But his strong rise in polls and his tough positions on health care and other issues make him a targe for the same kind of media hit job attack that Howard Dean suffered.

I have to wonder, when Tim Russert asked Dennis Kucinich about his UFO sighting, he was aiming at pulling a Dean Scream media hit on him. After the Iowa Caucus, when Dean let out a whoop, and a videographer with a mike on Dean over amplified the sound, the three second clip was shown thousands of times to mock Dean-- at a time when he was in a position to win the election-- something none of the major networks or mainstream media wanted. Dean had threatened to re-regulate the de-regulated media, forcing them to dis-own radio and TV stations where they had a monopoly, or just too much control of the media in a given metro area.
